Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the Karnataka High Court's dismissal of a writ appeal concerning the applicability of the Karnataka Land Reforms Act, 1961 and the Mysore (Personal and Miscellaneous) Inam Abolition Act, 1954. The Court found that the Land Tribunal failed to ascertain whether the lands in question were Inam lands, leading to an erroneous conclusion regarding their status. The Court affirmed that the order of the Special Deputy Commissioner under the 1954 Act did not bind the third respondent as they were not a party to the proceedings, and thus the statutory vesting of land with the State Government under Section 44(2) was valid.
