Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the compensation awarded for pain and suffering in a motor accident case was inadequate, increasing it from Rs.15,000 to Rs.35,000 due to the severity of injuries, including a fracture requiring surgery. The Court also revised the compensation for future medical expenses and loss of future earning capacity, increasing each by Rs.10,000. Consequently, the total compensation was raised to Rs.1,03,470, with interest at 6% per annum from the date of filing of the petition until deposit.
