Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's order which set aside the authorities' decision under the Andhra Pradesh Land Reforms (Ceiling on Agricultural Holdings) Act, 1973, stating that the determination of tenancy rights must be made under the Andhra Pradesh (Andhra Area) Tenancy Act, 1956. The Court clarified that the Andhra Land Reforms Act, 1973 does not confer jurisdiction to decide tenancy issues. The appellants were granted liberty to approach the appropriate authorities under the Tenancy Act for resolution of their tenancy rights. The appeal was dismissed with no order as to costs.
