Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the High Court dismissing the Review Petition filed by Eastern Coalfields Ltd. regarding the allotment of coal to a land loser under the policy formulated as per Section 617 of the Companies Act, 1956. The Court established that the acceptance of 1008 MTs of coal by the respondent was final and binding, and that the subsequent claim for an additional quantity of coal was barred by delay and acceptance of the previous offer. The Court affirmed the High Court's order directing the Company to allot the balance quantity of coal as per the earlier release order.
