Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court held that the appointment of respondent no.1 as an Assistant Teacher on an ad-hoc basis did not confer any right to regularization, citing the precedent in Secretary, State of Karnataka & Ors. v. Umadevi & Ors. (2006) 4 SCC 1, which establishes that temporary or ad-hoc appointments do not entitle individuals to seek regularization under Articles 14 and 16 of the Constitution of India. The Court found that respondent no.1's services were properly dispensed with in November 1995 and set aside the High Court's order for regularization, allowing the appeal of the State Government.
