Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the respondents, being contract employees of the Government of NCT of Delhi, are not entitled to age relaxation as per the terms of UPSC Advertisement No.54 of 2005, which specifies that age relaxation is applicable only to Central Government servants and employees of NDMC/MCD. The Court affirmed the High Court's decision that denied regularization but clarified that the concession made by the Additional Solicitor General regarding age relaxation was not binding on UPSC. Consequently, the appeals by UPSC were allowed, and the age relaxation granted by the High Court was set aside.
