Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court disposed of Transfer Petition (C) No. 457 of 2006, noting that a settlement had been reached between the husband and wife, rendering the Divorce Petition No.A 1363/2006 infructuous. The Court addressed the pendency of Sessions Case No.127/2007 under Sections 315, 498A, and 406 IPC, stating that while these sections are not compoundable, the FIR was quashed based on the precedent set in B.S. Joshi & Ors. Vs. State of Haryana, allowing for termination of the trial. The Court held that the FIR was quashed in light of the settlement between the parties.
