Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the State Commission erred in directing the complainant to file a complaint before the District Forum, as the District Forum's jurisdiction is limited to claims up to Rupees twenty lakhs. The Court found that the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission also committed a serious error by confirming the State Commission's order. Consequently, the appeal was allowed, and the orders of both the State Commission and the National Commission were set aside, remitting the matter back to the State Commission for proper adjudication.
