The Supreme Court, in a Lok Adalat proceeding, disposed of Transfer Petition (C) No. 887 of 2007 by facilitating a mutual agreement between the parties for divorce. The respondent agreed to pay a total of Rs. 16,00,000/- to the petitioner in installments, with the first installment of Rs. 5,00,000/- already deposited with the Punjab & Haryana High Court. The Court ordered that upon full payment, the related FIR would be quashed and the divorce decree would be granted based on mutual consent. Additionally, the Family Court proceedings were to be transferred to Hoshiarpur for finalization of the divorce.
