Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court condoned delays of 720, 650, and 870 days in filing appeals before the Securities Appellate Tribunal, contingent upon the appellants depositing costs of Rs.1,00,000 and Rs.1,25,000 respectively to the respondents. The Court established that sufficient cause for condonation of delay can be recognized when a monetary condition is imposed. The appeals were disposed of with the condition that failure to comply would result in dismissal and affirmation of the impugned orders.
