Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the complaint filed by the appellant under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 was not maintainable as the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum lacked jurisdiction. The Court granted the appellant permission to withdraw the complaint with liberty to file a properly constituted suit in a civil court. Additionally, the Court directed that the time spent in prosecuting the complaint shall be excluded for the purpose of computing the period of limitation under Section 14 of the Limitation Act.
