The Supreme Court, in Transfer Petition [Civil] No. 375 of 2006, held that the mutual consent divorce decree between Nirmal Chandra Nayak and Julita Nirmal Chandra Nayak is valid, and consequently, the pending M.C. Case No. 1072 of 2008 before the Family Court in Bangalore is transferred to the Supreme Court and disposed of in terms of the compromise. The Court also quashed the criminal prosecution against the respondent in Case No. 1229/PW/2005 and ordered the unconditional release of seized jewellery to the wife, along with a permanent alimony of twelve lakhs.
