Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the conviction of Khursheed and Islam under Sections 325 and 323 read with Section 34 IPC for causing grievous hurt and simple hurt, respectively. The trial court's sentence of rigorous imprisonment was modified by the Sessions Court, reducing the term for Section 325 IPC to six months and for Section 323 IPC to three months. The Court noted that the parties had reached a compromise, which was permissible as the offences were compoundable, and allowed the appeal to be adjourned for formalization of the compromise.
