Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court overturned the High Court's acquittal of the respondents, who were charged under Sections 409, 420, 467, and 477-A IPC, and Section 5 read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947, for conspiring to sanction and disburse loans to fictitious persons, resulting in misappropriation of Rs.30,000. The Court held that the evidence presented, including testimonies from bank officials and a fingerprint expert, established the respondents' guilt beyond reasonable doubt. Consequently, the Court reinstated the conviction and sentence imposed by the Trial Court.
