Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Allahabad High Court affirming the regularization of daily wage employees of the Cooperative Electric Supply Society who were absorbed into the U.P. State Electricity Board. The Court emphasized that the employees' prior service in the Society should not be disregarded, as they were to be treated as continuous employees of the Board following the takeover. The Court held that the order dated 28.11.1996 regarding regularization of daily wage employees applies to these petitioners, thus granting them the same benefits as original employees of the Electricity Board.
