Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court held that the Andhra Pradesh High Court erred in applying the ratio of the decision in Divisional Manager, APSRTC v. P. Lakshmoji Rao (2004) to the case of the respondents, who sought regularization of their services from the date of initial appointment. The Court clarified that the respondents, appointed on a daily wage basis, could not claim regularization from the initial date of appointment as they did not establish a legal right to such status. The appeal was allowed, overturning the High Court's decision and emphasizing the correct interpretation of continuous service under Section 25-B of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
