Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court, while hearing Criminal Appeals arising from SLP(Crl.) Nos. 1357/2006, 1568/2006, and 1570/2006, determined that the issues concerning the recommendations made by the Review Committee under The Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2002, as amended by the Ordinance of 2003, necessitate consideration by a larger bench. The Court noted that the appeal from SLP(Crl.) No. 1357/2006, which challenges the High Court's dismissal of a discharge application under Section 227 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, may be contingent on the outcomes of the other two appeals. Therefore, all matters were directed to be heard together by a larger bench for comprehensive adjudication.
