Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court upheld the Bombay High Court's decision that teachers with B.A./B.Sc. and B.Ed. qualifications are eligible to be treated as Trained Teachers in primary schools, as per the Government Resolution dated 26th October 1982. The Court found that the State's argument requiring a D.Ed. qualification was not substantiated by the applicable rules. Consequently, the Court affirmed the High Court's order for the State of Maharashtra to pay the teachers their entitled salaries and benefits retroactively.
