Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the Sales Promotion Employees (Conditions of Service) Act, 1976 does not oust the jurisdiction of the authorities under the Andhra Pradesh Shops and Establishment Act, 1988. The Court established that the authorities under the Shops Act can entertain appeals from sales promotion employees challenging their termination, despite the existence of the ID Act. The appeals against the High Court's dismissal of writ petitions were dismissed, affirming the jurisdiction of the Shops Act authorities.
