Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court modified the High Court's order regarding the recognition applications under the Maharashtra Recognition of Trade Union & Prevention of Unfair Labour Practices Act (MRTU Act). It held that the Industrial Court must treat the applications as filed on 1.1.2006 and conduct investigations for membership based on the six months preceding that date, as per Section 12(2) and Section 11(1) of the MRTU Act. The Court directed the Industrial Court to resolve the applications within three months, thereby expediting the process.
