Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court held that appointments made on a temporary or ad hoc basis, as per the terms of the appointment letters, come to an end by efflux of time, and individuals holding such posts have no right to continue or seek regularization. The Court emphasized that the respondents, having accepted the terms of their temporary appointments, cannot contest the termination of their services after the stipulated period. Consequently, the Civil Appeals were allowed, and the High Court's judgments were set aside.
