Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to grant permission for the establishment of a new B.Ed. college, despite the Maharashtra government's policy decision not to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for new institutions for the academic year 2005-06. The Court found that the NCTE's decision was in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993, and the relevant regulations. Consequently, the Court set aside the Maharashtra government's order dated December 28, 2004, affirming the authority of the NCTE in this matter.
