The Supreme Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation of multiple corruption-related cases against IAS officer Sanjiv Kumar, including FIR No. 312 under Sections 406, 409, 468, 471, 477A, 120 IPC and Section 13(1)(c)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Court held that the ongoing departmental proceedings against Kumar, which were perceived to be influenced by local officials, should also be transferred to the CBI to ensure a fair investigation. The Court emphasized the necessity of impartiality in investigations involving public servants accused of corruption.
