Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the Bombay High Court's decision dismissing the appellant's writ petition regarding eligibility for the Pension Scheme under the Punjab National Bank (Employees) Pension Regulations, 1995. The Court found that the appellant failed to exercise the option within the stipulated time frame as per the Circular dated 27.6.1994 and the Gazette Notification dated 29.9.1995, which required the option to be exercised by 27.1.1996. The Court held that the appellant's claims of ignorance and hostile treatment by the Bank did not justify the failure to comply with the procedural requirements set forth in the Regulations.
