Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the Andhra Pradesh Land Reforms Tribunal has the authority to reopen matters when fraud is established, as per Section 10(3) of the Andhra Pradesh Land Reforms (Ceiling on Agricultural Holdings) Act, 1973. The Court found that the High Court erred in its judgment by not recognizing the fraudulent nature of the respondent's surrender of land that had already been acquired under the Land Acquisition Act, 1898. Consequently, the Supreme Court set aside the High Court's order and reinstated the Tribunal's power to address the fraudulent act.
