Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court reviewed its earlier judgment in Civil Appeal Nos. 8501 and 8502 of 2002 concerning the approval of mineral concession under Section 5(1) of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation and Development) Act, 1957. The Court held that the review petitions did not merit admission as the issues raised were already addressed in the prior judgment. The Court reaffirmed the necessity for the State Government to clarify its recommendations regarding the relaxation of Rule 59(1) of the Mineral Concession Rules, 1960, and the invocation of Section 11(5) of the MMDR Act, 1957, for mineral development purposes.
