Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under Section 147 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, a comprehensive insurance policy does not cover the risk of injury to the owner of the vehicle. The Court found that since the appellant was the owner, the Insurance Company was not liable to pay compensation for his injuries sustained in the accident. The judgment of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which absolved the Insurance Company from liability, was upheld.
