Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under Section 147 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, a comprehensive insurance policy does not cover the owner of the vehicle for injuries sustained by them in an accident. The Court affirmed the High Court's decision that the Insurance Company is not liable to compensate the owner for injuries as they fall outside the scope of coverage provided in the policy. Consequently, the appeal by the Insurance Company was allowed, and the Tribunal's order was set aside.
