Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the Madras High Court erred in quashing the detention order under Section 3(1) of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Slum Grabbers Act, 1982, on the grounds that the Forest Officer's report did not specify the detenu's activities as dangerous to public order. The Court emphasized that the report did indicate such danger and that the High Court failed to consider the confessional statement of the detenu. The Court reinstated the detention order, affirming the legality of the detaining authority's actions.
