Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the conviction of Somashekar under Section 304 (part II) and Section 201 IPC, affirming the Karnataka High Court's judgment which revised the Trial Court's acquittal. The Court found that the accused had intentionally caused the death of K. Sathyadev by delivering fatal blows during a confrontation at a swimming pool, and subsequently attempted to conceal the crime. The sentence included three years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1 lakh, with the fine to be treated as compensation to the victim's mother.
