Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the transfer of employees from the Postal Services Department was not in violation of Rule 37 of the Posts and Telegraphs Manual or Rule 15 of the Fundamental Rules, as the transfer was justified on grounds of public interest and discipline enforcement. The Court found that the High Court's ruling, which quashed the transfer order on the basis of it being punitive and affecting seniority, was erroneous. The appeal by the Union of India was allowed, reinstating the transfer order.
