Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court ruled that under Sections 134 and 135 of the Tripura Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act, 1960, all rights of intermediaries in estates situated in notified areas are extinguished upon vesting in the Government. The Court held that the appellant's claim to possession of the land was invalid as the land had vested in the Government, and the provisional khatiyan granted to the appellant did not confer any substantive rights. Consequently, the appeal was dismissed, affirming the lower court's decision that the appellant lost his right to seek possession of the land.
