Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court overturned the Allahabad High Court's judgment that acquitted the accused of charges under Section 20(b)(2) and Section 23 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The Court established that the prosecution had adequately proven the recovery of 100 Kg of charas concealed in the accused's vehicle, and the voluntary statements made by the accused were admissible as evidence. The Court held that the conviction by the Trial Court was justified and reinstated the sentence of 15 years imprisonment and a fine of one lakh rupees.
