Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court addressed the dispute over 28.58 acres of land on Tirumala Hills, originally granted to Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya, and the subsequent claims by the T.T.D. under the Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1951 and the Andhra Pradesh Inams Abolition Act, 1956. The Court held that the T.T.D. failed to establish its claim for resumption of the inam, as the Deputy Tahsildar's earlier decision was found to be valid and the land was determined to be inam land not held by an institution. The judgment reinforced the importance of due process in land grant disputes under the relevant statutes.
