Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the conviction of the appellant under Section 354 IPC and Section 3(1)(xi) of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, affirming the lower courts' findings that the accused attempted to outrage the modesty of the victim by forcibly entering her home. The Court noted that while there was a delay in lodging the FIR, it did not undermine the credibility of the victim's testimony. The appeal was dismissed, and the sentences of three months and six months for the respective offences were maintained.
