Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court ruled that the employees of Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (IDPL) are entitled to the benefits of the Fifth Pay Commission's recommendations, as per the directions given in the earlier case of Jute Corporation of India Officers' Association v. Jute Corporation of India Ltd. The Court emphasized that the pay scales and allowances must be revised in accordance with the recommendations applicable to Central Government employees, effective from January 1, 1996. The petitioners' writ petition was allowed, directing IDPL to implement the pay revisions as mandated.
