Judgment text excerpt

The High Court held that the appellants were entitled to interest at the rate of 12% on the principal amount from 1st September 1986 to 24th December 1992 due to the failure of the P.R.D.A. to inform them about the deposit in a nationalised bank. The Court emphasized that had the appellants been informed, they could have invested the money more profitably. The appeal was disposed of with a directive for the P.R.D.A. to pay the interest within six months, while the special leave petition was dismissed on grounds of delay.
