Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the Writ Petition filed by the U.P. Judicial Officers Association concerning interference with judicial independence. The Court reaffirmed its earlier directive that no FIR against a Judicial Officer should be registered without the Chief Justice's permission, as established in the case of Delhi Judicial Service Association. The Court found no criminal involvement of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, N.K. Jain, in the bribery allegations, and directed the disciplinary authority to take action against errant police officers involved in the conspiracy. The petition was disposed of with directions for expeditious prosecution and disciplinary action.
