Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court held that the rank list prepared for the post of Assistant Grade-II by the University of Calicut should have been valid for three years as per the Syndicate's resolution dated 10th May 1986. The Court emphasized that the appellants had a legitimate expectation of appointment to vacancies arising within that period, and the University was bound to adhere to this validity period. The Court directed that the appellants should be given credit for their services rendered on a daily wage basis and allowed to participate in future selection processes.
