Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the landlord's appeal against the High Court's order, affirming that eviction under Section 14(1)(b) of the Delhi Rent Control Act, 1958, was not warranted for tenants who were sub-tenants with the landlord's consent. The Court held that since six out of eight sub-tenants were inducted with consent, the eviction of only one sub-tenant did not justify eviction of the main tenants. The judgment clarified that the grounds for eviction were insufficient to affect the rights of the other tenants.
