Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the appellant, a practicing advocate and part-time legal adviser to the Amritsar Improvement Trust, was entitled to allotment of a plot under category 14 (Professionals) as per Notification No. 9(M)-102-76/41321 dated 2nd December, 1976. The Court found that the Government's disapproval of the allotment based on the appellant's classification as not an 'Employee of the Improvement Trust' was erroneous and overlooked the relevant category under which he qualified. The Court set aside the High Court's dismissal of the appellant's writ petition and directed reconsideration of his allotment claim.
