The Supreme Court dismissed the application as withdrawn and issued notices to the non-applicants and learned Amicus Curiae, returnable on 6th December 2001. The Court directed the constitution of an independent agency to conduct random inspections of petrol quality in Delhi without prior notice, with expenses borne by the Union of India. Additionally, the NCT of Delhi was requested to provide a status report on compliance with traffic regulations and safety for school children in buses by the next hearing date.
