Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court set aside the order of the Customs, Excise and Gold (Control) Appellate Tribunal (CEGAT) in the appeals related to Srikumar Agencies, directing that the matter be remitted for fresh consideration. The Court emphasized that the decision in the related case of Civil Appeal Nos. 4872-4892 of 2000 would apply to the current appeals. The Court requested the CEGAT, now known as CESTAT, to expedite the hearing and dispose of the appeals preferably by February 2009, thereby allowing the appeals.
