The Supreme Court upheld the Labour Court's decision that the dismissal of the appellant, a Conductor for failing to issue a ticket worth Rs. 2.50, was shockingly disproportionate. The Court annulled the High Court's order that had interfered with the Labour Court's award and accepted the Corporation's offer of Rs. 7 lakhs as compensation instead of reinstatement. The appellant agreed to forgo any further claims against the Corporation upon receipt of the compensation.
