Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the detention order under Section 3(1) of the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug Offenders and Dangerous Persons Act, 1981, affirming the necessity of such detention to maintain public order. The Court found that the detaining authority had sufficient grounds to believe that the detenu was a dangerous person whose activities were prejudicial to public safety. The appeal against the Bombay High Court's dismissal of the writ petition was therefore dismissed, confirming the legality of the detention order.
