The High Court of Allahabad granted a writ of mandamus directing the State of U.P. to extend the benefits of the Government order dated 20th November 1993, which provided a pay scale of Rs. 3000-4500/- after 8 years of service, to lecturers at the Northern Regional Institute of Printing Technology. The Court held that the educational qualifications of the writ petitioners, who were diploma holders, did not justify the denial of parity in pay with graduate lecturers in Government Polytechnic, especially given the recommendations of the Second Pay Commission. The appeal by the State was dismissed, affirming the High Court's decision.
