Judgment text excerpt

The Delhi High Court reversed the Additional Rent Controller's order granting leave to defend to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi under Section 14D of the Delhi Rent Control Act, 1958. The Court held that the respondent, as the widow of the deceased owner, had established her title to the property and the relationship of landlord and tenant with the Corporation. The Court found the Corporation's denial of ownership to be wrongful and emphasized that it was not the respondent's duty to provide further evidence of her title.
