Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the dismissal of a habeas corpus petition concerning the preventive detention of Subramani under The Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug-Offenders, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Slum-Grabbers Act, 1982. The Court ruled that the appellant's argument regarding non-application of mind by the detaining authority was not sustained, and it declined to entertain new grounds not raised in the High Court. The Court allowed the appellant the option to file a review application in the High Court for points not previously argued.
