Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the Appellant's promotion from Assistant Sub Inspector to Sub Inspector should be reconsidered by the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) for the date of 25.7.1990, the date when his juniors were promoted. The Court set aside the DIG's rejection based on adverse remarks from 1.4.1988 to 31.3.1989, emphasizing that the DPC must evaluate whether these remarks impede the Appellant's promotion following his acquittal on 24.5.1991. The appeal was disposed of by remitting the matter back to the DPC for fresh consideration.
