Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the special leave petition challenging the High Court's order affirming the Rent Controller's decision to grant eviction based on the landlord's bona fide need under the Delhi Rent Control Act. The Court held that the provisions of the Delhi Rent Control Act, as established in Sarwan Singh & Anr. v. Kasturi Lal, prevail over the Slum Areas (Improvement & Clearance) Act, 1956, thus rejecting the petitioner's argument regarding the need for prior permission under Section 19 of the latter Act. The Court found no grounds for interference with the High Court's ruling.
